Cafè Pagès

Our story

We are a neighbourhood bar in Gràcia, from a family of restaurateurs.

The dining room, with a chequered floor, wooden tables and lamps

We come from Casa Pagès

Our mother house is Casa Pagès, the eating house that opened in 1982 on Carrer de la Llibertat, known for its spoon dishes and its true neighbourhood feel.

Before it was a restaurant it was an old neighbourhood shop, where people bought blocks of ice to keep their food, back before there were fridges.

The little brother

Between 2009 and 2010, Alberto Barros and Elena Vidal, the family’s second generation, opened Cafè Pagès on Carrer del Torrent de l’Olla. We call it the little brother of Casa Pagès.

The idea was to reinvent the traditional eating house: the tapas of always, with a few nods to the East, in a room of warm wood and soft light, decorated with old pieces from the neighbourhood’s shops, such as the scales once used to weigh food.

The evenings

Every day from 7 to 9 pm the tapas are €2, with wines by the glass and live music. On Sundays, rumba.

That is when the neighbours of always meet people from all over who have fallen for the neighbourhood.

Fifteen years in Gràcia

We have turned 15, and we celebrated it as a tribute to Gràcia, the neighbourhood that welcomed us with open arms: with our tapas, the house vermouth and live rumba.
